Unleashing of VTPS today’s dizzy heights would probably have remained a myth but for the fierce dedication that hold transformed the sprit of its committed professionals into a hub of activity called TRAINING the Power Engineers, especially the new entrants, for tomorrow’s exacting requirements which keep changing for better all the time. That was way back in 1986 standing to the tests of time and coping with demands of rising expectations since then, the training facilities of APGENCO have gradually matured today’s VTPS training Institute.


Like the man & Wife of Ideal family (Where each has lots to offer incessantly to the other and in the process getting more and more intimate and reaping mutual benefits lot more), VTPS & VTPS Training Institute have grown to fame together in an endless give and take theme.

If VTPS, over the years, was all too busy dominating the national scene in a high pitch with its performance, so was its silently active partner- Consistently metamorphosing itself into a full fledged Institute of national standards for training the power professionals- Juniors and seniors alike – in all its allied fields.

It is felt glad that our Training Institute, VTPS has been honored as one of the reputed Power Training Institute, VTPS in CATEGORY-I in All India Ranking for the year 2003-04 by Central Electricity Authority, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Thus VTPS, TI qualifies for better place and best time, and humbly invites with open hands one and all the power sector organizations across the country for availing the unique facilities in training with APGENCO.

Today, in its own buildings, APGENCO’s VTPS, Training Institute stands majestically high on a sprawling and most beautiful 12 acre piece of land by the side of the Vijayawada – Bhadrachalam state high way that runs east of the historic Kondapalli Quila. Besides the greenery of the premises and the surrounding alike, fruity and flowery gardens of the Institute as well are grand feast to the eye. Beautifully laid out and bright lit roads, building and gardens of the Institute higher in the tranquility and reverence of an Ashram- so conducive to learning and reading.

The place is hardly a half an hour drive from the city and within a kilometer of the origin for the nationally and internationally reputed Kondapalli toys. The sacred Krishna River passes by the Ibrahimpatnam village where VTPS and Training Institute are located. The barrage Railway / Road bridges across the river Krishna at Vijayawada are worth seeing.

The Institute had its humble beginning in 1986 with minimum staff of 10 (ten). Growing by leaps and bounds the Training Institute has become the Central Training Center for the entire APGENCO conducting training in such diverse fields as all branches of Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Telecom, Civil, I & C, Management, Accountancy, Safety, Health & Nutrition) and thereby catering the needs of all cadres of employees of APGENCO.
